The most common German hand grenade used during World War II was the Stielhandgranate, also known as the "stick grenade." It was a fragmentation grenade that consisted of a wooden handle with a metal head containing the explosive charge and a removable metal casing. The grenade weighed 650 grams and had a range of about 30 meters. It was used extensively by German infantry and was known for its excellent reliability. The Stielhandgranate was eventually replaced by the more modern Model 1944 stick grenade, which had a more streamlined shape and more powerful explosive charge.
